New facility strengthens Emerson’s capabilities to serve customers
in China and nearby regions
Suzhou, China, April 16, 2019 – Emerson (NYSE: EMR), a leading international technology and engineering company, today opened a new, expanded research and solutions center in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province to further strengthen its innovation capabilities and technical support for air conditioning, heating and refrigeration customers in China and across the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. The new center, which represents an investment of RMB 115 million, is the latest example of Emerson’s commitment to its business localization and development strategy in the region.
“2019 marks the 40th anniversary of Emerson’s presence in China, and we are proud of this long history of cultivating and maintaining strong relationships in this market,” said Emerson Chairman and CEO David Farr, who participated in the grand opening along with other Emerson executives, Chinese customers and government officials. “Our investment in this new solutions center continues and deepens our commitment to provide new climate control and cold chain innovations for our customers in the region as they work to achieve enhanced levels of home and human comfort and food safety.”
The advanced new center, part of Emerson’s Commercial & Residential Solutions business in Asia and its global research and development (R&D) network, features upgraded customer experience areas, improved R&D infrastructure and capabilities and an enhanced collaboration platform for talent cultivation.
“In China and throughout the Asia-Pacific region, our customers are embracing the latest technology solutions to improve critical industries,” said Hakan Erdamar, president of Asia, Middle East & Africa for Emerson’s Commercial & Residential Solutions business. “This center will provide a collaborative environment and enhance our ability to work with customers and industry professionals to develop solutions and meet industry challenges head on.”
Emerson’s new research and solutions center is located at Suzhou Industrial Park and includes 35,000 square meters of space for expanded R&D lab facilities, as well as a new customer training center, customer experience gallery and additional office space to enable future growth. The new training facility provides an interactive technology experience for customers, with upgraded lab facilities equipped with enhanced simulation, fatigue testing, and heating and cooling and refrigeration system/solution testing capabilities. In addition to the hands-on space, customers can experience a solutions gallery to gain a deeper understanding of Emerson products and technologies. The approximately 400 people who were employed at the old facility have been relocated to the new center.
