Case Study
In late 2021 and early 2022, Copeland began several pilot tests of its CC200 case controller, a stand-alone case control system, at retail stores in Dallas, Texas; Tulsa, Okla.; and Conyers, Ga. The dramatic results of these upgrades hold the promise of significant improvements in energy savings, store health scores, refrigeration system reliability and food quality. The CC200 quickly provided benefits across the board simply by replacing the existing controller. Pilot sites saw measurable improvements in system reliability and energy savings within hours, with no new sensor or valve hardware. Food quality and health scores are also on course to improve — all while simplifying service, maintenance and troubleshooting.
“The CC200 has been a good controller to work with. Wiring and programming is user-friendly. The app is intuitive and very easy to work with. It has all pertinent information in an easy-to-use format.”

CC200 Case Controller FAQs
Copeland’s CC200 case controller is made up of four main components: the main controller, the expansion module, the case display and our new Cold Chain Connect mobile app for Bluetooth connection. It is designed for controlling air temperature, superheat and evaporator pressure for refrigerated display cases and walk-in boxes. It can control low, medium, and dual temperature case designs and a variety of loads and valves. This controller is compatible with a variety of synthetic refrigerants and CO2.
The CC200 case controller’s solution supports control of up to three evaporator coils and one stepper EEPR valve, as a maximum. The expansion module is a valve driver with onboard input and output capacity to handle additional evaporators and valves that need to be controlled. Each expansion module comes with PWM and stepper valve outputs which allow addition of one additional expansion valve. The expansion module valve compatibility is the same as the CC200 main controller so any valve that is approved on the main controller can also run on the expansion module. The expansion valve is not a stand-alone component and must be used with the CC200 main controller.
When you achieve the precise temperature, superheat and pressure performance results while reducing time spent during system commissioning, without paying for labor to adjust TXV’s in every case or to tune evaporator pressure setpoints, it simplifies refrigeration system startup and maintenance post startup. Labor expenses are reduced, and startup complexity is reduced. With over 40 data points about evaporator and controller operation and 12 service commands available in one screen, diagnosing or simply checking system operation has never been easier.
For retailers and OEMs that want the capability to switch between fresh and frozen applications within the same display case, the CC200 case controller offers dual temperature case design support. Separate low- and medium-temperature setpoints for air temp and evaporator SST (when EEPR is used) make it easy to configure the CC200 for dual temperature operation.
